Q: Air mod? So what what was changed, exactly?

A: In 0.7 all technologies relating to the air warfare were seriously changed. Many changes are taken directly from the suggestion forum, and include:

- Carrier Air Groups (CAG's) as a separate, carrier based air unit,
- Expanded list of fighter models (rangeing from light Interceptors to Twin Engined heavy fighters) - 25 models total.
- Modified list of bombers, including close support planes, LR naval patrol planes, medium bombers and so on),
- Modified stats line of ALL air units,
- Added 2 new air doctrines representing different approach to the pilots training,
- Added Carrier Air Group doctrine, representing experience needed to use naval based planes effectively.
- 3 stages of plane development (project - prototype - production),
- Revisited system of engines development,
- Seriously developed system of upgrades/pre-reqisites for planes, including self-sealing tanks, armour plating, super-heavy bombs, unguided Air-to-Surface rockets, afterburners and many more).

Q: How many planes are represented in CORE by one unit?

A: In case of land based units (fighters, close support planes, medium bombers, LR naval patrol planes, heavy bombers) roughly 70-90 planes. In case of naval based planes (CAG) - it's approx. 30 planes. In case of the transport planes - it's about 500 planes and gliders (airfleet capable of transporting paratrooper division in one go).

Q: CAG? What the hell is CAG? Where are torpedo planes?

A: Carrier Air Group is the mixed unit of carrier based fighters, torpedo planes and dive bombers and REPLACES torpedo plnes in the building queve. Since Hearts of Iron game allows players to put on the carriers 1-4 air units, CAG's were introduced in C.O.R.E. to make carrier based units closer to the historical sizes (rougly 20-120 planes, depending on the carrier type).

IMPORTANT!
HOUSE RULE: When equiping aircraft carriers with the plane units, players should use CAG's only. Historically, other air units were not able to operate succesfully from the board of carrier.

Q: My CAG's got crappy stats line. This sucks!

A: Just look at the air technologies and check out, which one help you to rise the statistics. Basically all the techs related to the light bombers and single engined LR fighters will help you there, as well as navigation techs. You have to rememeber though, that since CAG represents approx. 30 planes (compared to the 70-90 planes of the land based unit) it would always have lower stats then 1 land based unit.
Use the numbers as the advantage - most carriers is able to ferry 2+ CAG's!

Q: I've intercepted 4 units of Brittish Lancasters over Hamburg with 2 Bf-109F and I've lost! Same happened on the Eastern Front when I attacked 8 Il-2 Shturmovik's. What's going on?!

A: Look at the light air tech tree and check out the techs with the text "(AI Only)" in their names. Since up to date AI is unable to create effective fighter escort, those techs were introduced to create more realistic air warfare - representing front fighter patrols and LR escorts. AI still got to develop those techs (as well as proper pre-reqisites) to benefit from them.
